Amazon Alexa + Computer Scientists = Virtual Assistant Abuse?
As a computer programmer I use many different tools to write code and program interfaces. Now with the help of Alexa it looks like programmers will be able to unload some of the work load.
It makes sense to a degree. "Alexa order groceries" eventually would lead to "Hey Alexa, write me a database management system".
To be honest I saw it coming, just figured it would take a lot longer then this. Technology has always been a leading force in attempting to make our lives easier. But it also has been known to be detrimental in other manners.
Ask any person who lost a job when robotics took over the car industry and you quickly can see how technology can be a two way street.
Like anything, the Alexa interface has to be programmed as well, and while there is still a long way of for Alexa to be handling custom programming, there are quite a bit of smaller tasks that would be relatively easy to hand off to an automated virtual assistant.
